  • Thanksgiving 2007

I'm sitting here surrounded by the enchanting holiday smells drifting from the kitchen, feeling just a slight tinge of anticipation. The long, hard, and difficult year is almost over, and we're about to begin one of my favorite times of year...the Christmas holiday season.

As I sit down to remember the things I'm thankful for this year, I'm just awestruck at the things God has brought me through this year. I'll probably set aside some time one of these days to actually review and write down some of the major things. For now, I'm just going put it very briefly.

I'm grateful to God for His never failing love and grace which sustained me through the last few months. There were several occasions when the struggles I was facing were enough to make me want to give up and call it quits. But the Lord would carefully plan what He did at just the right time...maybe with a random Bible verse, a note or word of encouragement from a friend, or just a random event to take my mind off of reality for a little while.

I'm also grateful for friends here, there, and everywhere...:) Especially for my roommates and classmates at Verity. It's been great to be around others who are spiritually like-minded. And although we might all be totally random at time and act like we're going insane...hey we're all in this together! Thank you to all those who had to put up with my rotten attitude on those days when I was really down and struggling through my day. You're all amazing! It's been great how things have worked together and brought me some form of distraction at just the right time.

Whether you're celebrating this special day with your extended family or just your immediate family, I hope all of you are having a great day rejoicing in God's goodness and blessings to us. Happy Thanksgiving!!

[If you're reading post this on my more than neglected xanga, I'll just say sometime I'll sit down and write a long post about the last few months. Until then, peace out.]

  • July-August 2007

    In a sentence:
"I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with Your likeness." -Psalm 17:15

It's been a roller coaster experience for me...in the true sense of that term. It's taken me through many ups and downs. Some days flew by right in front of my eyes while others slowly dragged on and on. The Lord has been faithful and has brought me through each step.

The last few weeks flew by in such a whirl, I hardly can remember exactly what happened. Here's my last 2 months in a nutshell:
    --Sacramento ATI regional
--home for a couple days to get packed up
--fly back to Indy to spend part of a night
--head straight up to Chicago for 2 weeks to take modal counterpoint
--back to Indy for another 2 weeks, trying to cram in US History 1&2
--back to Chicago again where I've been for the last 3 weeks, cramming myself full of more music theory courses

  • The Life of a Verity Music Student at HQ

I've just got back Indy after finishing the first of my music theory courses this summer. So now I get to hang out with the rest of the awesome Verity peoples here for 2 weeks! In the meantime, I'll be taking US History 1&2. Fun stuff.

For your viewing pleasure, Ellen and I made a little video of some of our adventures up at HQ. Enjoy!

  • another update...

I've actually gone a full 2 months without updating. How's that for the record? Xanga seems to be falling by the wayside as more people continue to switch over to facebook.

Summer break ended a week ago and I packed up and headed back to Indy...only to spend a short night in a makeshift room, say hi to a few people in the morning, and pack up to leave again. I've spent the last week up in Chicago at the IBLP HQ taking a music theory class.

It's a different pace of life up here...days fly by very fast.... Even though I miss all the awesome peoples at Verity, it's been a great change of pace, meeting new people and renewing old friendships. God is good....

Well, that's all I have time for right now. Hopefully it won't be another 2 months before my next update.

    Keep rejoicing in God's goodness!

  • April - May 2007

Well, here we are already in the middle of May. Now where did the last month go anyway? It's definitely been an full one. Two piano recitals, a killer test on biology, anticipated changes in the Verity staff....

And looking down the road...the last week and a half promise to be very eventful. I take Western Civ this week. Next week it's grad week. And then it's.....break!

"This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,  I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
    -Phil. 3:13-14

Just at the right time there seems to be some diversion to give us a welcome break from the usual busyness of life at Verity. Earlier this month we got to take part in own little photo scavernger hunt. We split up into teams and tried to take the most creative pictures from various categories.  Here are pics from my team.

    2. Trees
This picture won first place in its catergory. I wonder why.
